Mandy

To all our friends.
It’s with great sadness that I’m sharing the news that my sister Mandy Kyffin has passed away. She died peacefully on June 14 at St Ann’s Hospice after a battle with cancer.
Mandy had enjoyed the last seven years since our mum Marjorie’s death living alone at the family home with some great support. She loved being part of the family business with Ben, Tom, Tobias, Sam and many friends of the shop. Mandy also spent a lot of time at David Lloyd gym in Cheadle where she was always welcomed warmly.
Mandy suffered serious injuries in a car accident when she was 13 years old but mum and dad - Marjorie and Roger - moved heaven and earth to bring her back to good health.
She loved athletics and swimming and mum set up a sports club called Stockport Javelins to help young adults with disabilities to compete.
Mum travelled to many events with Mandy and other enthusiastic young athletes.
As a result, Mandy made it to the 1980 Paralympics in Holland and the 1984 Paralympics in the USA to represent Team GBR.
The results were amazing. Two golds, three silvers and two bronze.
Mandy would always laugh off any mention of her phenomenal success with something like: ‘Oh, that was a long time ago!’
Mandy has always been a superstar. We’re all going to miss her.
